Trump 7, Democrats 0

We had the 7th debate and another round of proposals.  I understand that presidential candidates need to promise this, that, and another thing, but this time it's so much more surreal.

So far, the common denominator of these debates is that no candidate has put a proposal about anything that has a chance to pass the U.S. Senate.  It may pass the House on a party line vote, but it will die in the upper chamber.

I agree with Erroll Louis:
On paper, the plans advanced by Sanders and Warren would tax corporations and wealthy Americans to collect the trillions of dollars that Medicare for All would cost.
But in the real world, there’s no reason to believe such a plan would have a prayer of passage in Congress.
Mr. Louis is right.  In other words, reality is going to have the last word and it won't be anything like what we are hearing at these debates.

The debate moderators have not served the nation well.  They have not challenged these candidates on issues, from universal care to pulling troops out of Iraq to gun control to saying that late terms abortion is a reproductive right.

What's the score after 7 debates?   Trump 7, Democrats 0!

At least President Trump is delivering, from trade deals to jobs.  On the other side, the Democrats are just talking nonsense.

Baseball family stories: The Boyer brothers

As a boy, I remember the Boyer brothers playing third base in New York and St. Louis.

Back then, there was no ESPN so we read box scores, the weekly Sporting News or ran home to watch the afternoon games.

Want some brother trivia?  The Boyer brothers hit home runs in game 7 of the 1964 World Series.

As I recall, Ken Boyer was a pretty good hitter:  .287 BA with 282 HR & 1141 RBI.  He was the 1964 NL MVP.

Clete had the misfortune of playing third base when Brooks Robinson was winning gold gloves.

Clete hit 162 career HRs at a time when 20 HRs was a pretty good year. He played in five straight World Series with the Yankees, 1960-64!

Clete played on the 1961 NY Yankees or the magical season when New York won 109 games and Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle chased Babe Ruth's record.

By the way, older brother Clad also played in the major leagues.  He pitched in the mid-1950's or a few years before Clete and Ken.
