Sorry but asylum is not a right
As we look at the front pages, we see a so-called caravan trying to jump a fence in San Diego.
It’s an interesting image, because our family came here as political refugees many years ago. I remember the tedious process that included going from Cuba to Mexico, and then to Jamaica, where we waited for the okay to travel to Miami. After that, and respecting the laws of the U.S., we were granted residency.
Here is the difference from the people hanging from the fence in California. My parents did not expect the U.S. to automatically say “yes.” They understood that it was up to the USA, not us.
The situation on the U.S.-Mexico border is also fascinating because of what is happening down in Venezuela.
First, “Brazil declares emergency over Venezuelan migrant influx.” Like Central Americans, Venezuelans have concluded that their country is no longer suitable for living.
And second, “Venezuelan refugee crisis adds to Colombia’s growing challenges.” Down there, this crisis is complicating social services, such as health care and schools. In other words, humanitarianism and economic reality are meeting each other every day.
It’s a terrible situation, from Guatemala to Venezuela. I can understand their pain and suffering. At the same time, you cannot rush to a border and expect to be given entrance. It is up to the country, not the people seeking asylum

And now Mueller's 44 questions for Trump? We remind you that it'd be illegal for someone in Mr. Mueller's office to "leak" this information. Therefore, it may be another one of those "someone close to the investigation" type stories.......beware of leaks or remember Brian Ross of ABC....

Obama and the Iran nuclear agreement
Details aside, President Obama made a huge mistake with the Iran nuclear agreement: He never submitted it to the US Senate as a treaty as the US Constitution calls for. He did not do it with the Paris Climate Change accord, either. We have a treaty provision for a reason!

We've been watching the collapse of San Francisco, or how the once elegant city by the Bay became a dump.
Well, it turns out that the locals are tired of the city's look: Tolerant San Francisco fed up with dirty, smelly streets!
Can you blame the citizens? According to the above reference article, the locals have had it with tent camps, stinky urine and trash littering the streets.

We are not getting much for our investment in public education
We are not getting much for our investment in public education. How else do you explain this: Sixty-five percent of the eighth graders in American public schools in 2017 were not proficient in reading and 67 percent were not proficient in mathematics.....The results are far worse for students enrolled in some urban districts.
It's time for some real change in public education, from vouchers to choice. And let's not forget a little discipline as well.
