VP Pence and Senator Rubio should talk about Venezuela
We learned that President Trump will not travel to Latin America this week because of Syria. Nevertheless, the U.S. will be well represented by VP Mike Pence and Senator Marco Rubio.
Normally, these summits are all about the economy or trade agreements. However, VP Pence and Senator Rubio have a golden opportunity to call on Latin America to do something about Venezuela.
I like the addition of Senator Rubio because he has taken a leadership position in Latin America issues, as we see in this report:
Rubio downplayed his role at the summit compared to Pence’s, and he said policies related to Venezuela will take precedence at the event.“It’s to obviously focus on the Venezuela situation, but also on some of the issues that other nations in the region are ready to work together and confront,” Rubio said.Rubio also estimates that economic engagement will be an important issue at the summit.“The more economic engagement we have with these countries going both ways is mutually beneficial, the easier it will be to get policy makers in the United States to care about the Western Hemisphere because they’ll have economic constituencies in the United States who care about the future of the region,” Rubio said.
We should add that President Trump has relied on Senator Rubio for developing a policy toward Cuba, as well.
Frankly, these summits usually produce very little. However, we may have a chance this time to tell everyone in the world what we think of what is happening in Venezuela.

Another one about the millennial crowd: 4 in 10 millennials don't know 6 million Jews were killed in Holocaust, study shows!
This is important because the millennial segment of the population is supposed to be strongly pro-Democrat. Let's hope that these youngsters do a little reading about World War II and the Holocaust.

Bad news from Cancun and crime
We've heard about crime in Mexico. Well, this is a very bad report:
Mexico’s most popular holiday hot spot has become overrun with drug gangs, as violence in the tourist party town escalates to unprecedented levels.Can we say "Mexico we have a problem"?
Cancun has seen 14 murders in just 36 hours — the highest ever in the country’s recorded history, according to Noticaribe.
The latest violence on April 4 saw 14 people killed and at least five others left with gunshot wounds, in six separate instances in the party town.
The figures surpass Cancun’s previous record of nine killings in a day, which was set on Nov. 25, 2004.
Tourism is a huge industry in Mexico. It depends on US, Canadian and European tourists. This is not the kind of information that tourists want to read about.
