Some Colombians not thrilled with having FARC on the ballots

As you may know, President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia has made it possible for FARC to participate in the upcoming elections.  The group is guaranteed ten seats in the Congress and has been offered a legitimacy that no terrorist group deserves.
This is not going down well with many Colombians
As the FARC has largely funded itself on ransom cash and drug trafficking, there is a high chance that illicit money will enter the Colombian political system through them [sic].
Colombia voters rejected the peace deal in 2016.  That Santos went ahead with it anyway – in violation of the Colombian constitution, critics note – appears to have done little to improve popular sentiment towards the terrorist organization.
On February 2, “Timochenko” made his first official campaign appearance in Quindío, an area that Colombia’s El Tiempo notes was chosen because it was the “cradle of history commanders” of the FARC like “Timochenko” himself.  Crowds in the town received the presidential candidate and terror chief with chants of “terrorist, murderer, get out!”
The FARC canceled a second appearance in public that weekend.
Well, good for the people who showed their frustration and threw some eggs.
Colombians have good reason to feel a bit uncomfortable.  A friend from Cali, Colombia recently told me forty FARC members have been killed since the 2016 peace deal.  He also said a bomb attack by a rival guerrilla band killed another five and wounded 42.
So who said peace is at hand?  Not the guerrillas!
President Santos made a big mistake when he brought this deal to bring FARC terrorists.  My guess is that he was trying to win a Nobel Peace Prize and put a down payment on his legacy.  I am not optimistic.

This is why we love Justice Thomas!

Thank you Justice Thomas for saying this:
"“At some point, we’re going to be fatigued with everybody being the victim,” Thomas, the second African American to serve on the Supreme Court, said during an on-stage interview at the Library of Congress in Washington.
Thomas, a conservative appointed to the bench in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush, recalled recently being with a young black woman in Kansas who told him, “I’m really tired of having to play the role of being black. I just want to go to school.”
“I just get worn down,” Thomas said.
The justice said his grandfather had a tough life but never considered himself a victim.
“When I was a kid, there were tons of people who were in really bad circumstances,” Thomas said. “My grandfather would not let us wallow in that.”
Thomas added: “He’s my hero. He’s the single greatest human being I’ve ever met. With nine months of education. But he never saw himself as a victim.”
This is why we love Justice Thomas.

Governor Romney will soon be Senator Romney of Utah

Remember when Mr. Romney brought the Russians threat and Pres. Obama mocked him?

September 2006 and the spinach scare

We've been busy following many political events, from here there and everywhere.

We've forgotten Popeye.   After all, Popeye has been put in a very difficult situation since the "spinach scare" broke out last week.

So let's think about Popeye and thank him for all of those great laughs over the years!

CNN tanking fast.....

Image result for cnn media bias cartoons

At some point, anti-Trump 24/7 segments gets old, boring and people switch to something else:
"Throughout the week of February 5, CNN could only scrape together an average 674,000 total day viewers. During the all-important primetime hours, CNN averaged only 888,000 viewers......"
It's a shame but reality.   CNN decided to get into a ratings contest with MSNBC.   The net result of that they lost and have killed their reputation.

A post from September 2006: Down in Mexico, LO and his "parallels" drag on!

A post from 2006:

It's official. LO has his new government, including a convention and lots of placards. LO knows how to form a government. LO can't win elections but he can form a government. Will he let an opposition party win under his new government?

Mexico's version of a "chest pains" keeps on keeping on. Of course, chest pains are a sign of indigestion, heartburn or something worse.

Yet, the Mexican political class has stuck its head in the sand and hopes that LO will go away because Mexicans are telling pollsters that he should.

Let's hope that LO listens to Mexico. Let's hope that he will responsibly fade away and let Calderon assume the presidency.

In the meantime, I don't see a Plan B. What is Mexico going to do when LO heads to Oaxaca or Chiapas and finds fertile ground for his movement.

Let's hope that I'm wrong. Let's hope that Mexico's chest pains are a consequence of too much "salsa" in last night's enchiladas and not much more.

The best way to protect school kids is to have armed guards in school.....

The best way to protect school kids is to have armed guards in school to stop what we saw in Florida.   Speeches by Democrats won't do it.   Meaningless calls for gun control won't do much better.   A guard at the door would do it!

18 is not correct

Too many people willing to peddle the wrong information:   "No, there haven’t been 18 school shootings in 2018. That number is flat wrong":
"It is a horrifying statistic. And it is wrong."

Your dog, the marriage counselor

Pres. Truman had his share of political battles. He is well known for this great line:
“If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog”
So let me go beyond Pres. Truman's words.

How about this: If you want marital advice, listen to your dog!

And now President Obama tweets.....

I do feel sorry for mothers this week!

Mothers can't win.

First, they tell their kids to eat lots of vegetable and get off Coke and potato chips. Then they have to tell their kids not to eat Spinach.

Life is not fair.
