No one knows more about terrorism than Israel.
In fact, I would argue that the modern age of terrorism started at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Ever since, Israel, and much of the West has lived with the daily threat of suicide attacks and bombers.
Back in 1972, the world watched these horrific scenes from the Olympics in Munich:
At Furstenfeldbruck air base near Munich, an attempt by West German police to rescue nine Israeli Olympic team members held hostage by Palestinian terrorists ends in disaster. It was horrible, specially given that the venue was the Olympics. It was the beginning of massive terror attacks, such as 9-11 here in the US.
In an extended firefight that began at 11 p.m. and lasted until 1:30 a.m., all nine Israeli hostages were killed, as were five terrorists and one German policeman. Three terrorists were wounded and captured alive.
The hostage crisis began early the previous morning when Palestinian terrorists from the Black September organization stormed the Israeli quarters in the Olympic Village in Munich, killing two team members and taking nine others hostage.
