1941: Lou Gehrig died

Lou Gehrig took himself out of the Yankees' lineup in 1939.    It ended the consecutive game streak at 2,130 games, from 1925 to 1939!

He died two years later in 1941.

He died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at age 37 in New York.  We call it Lou Gehrig's Disease.

To this day, "The Pride of the Yankees" is my favorite baseball movie.   Gary Cooper played Gehrig and it is great.
