1967: "Kind of a drag" by The Buckinghams was # 1 this week


Back in my Wisconsin days, we used to listen to WLS and WCFL, a couple of great Top 40 stations broadcasting from Chicago.   Therefore, we were aware of the many groups from that city, from The American Breed to The Cryan Shames to The New Colony Six to The Buckinghams.   

In the late 1960s, The Buckinghams had several hits, including "Don't you care", "Mercy mercy mercy", "Hey baby they're playing our song" and "Susan".

On this week in 1967, 'Kind of a drag" replaced The Monkees "I'm a believer" and became the # 1 song on Billboard:
