1970: "Raindrops keep falling on my head" by B J Thomas is # 1 this week

According to Songfacts,  B J Thomas' "Raindrops keep falling on my head" was the first million seller for songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

I was surprised to read that since the duo wrote many songs for Dionne Warwick.

The Carpenters' "Close to you", another Bachrach-David composition, sold a million or more but that was not released until the summer of 1970, or months after this one.

"Raindrops...." was from the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" with Paul Newman & Robert Redford.

It became his signature song and a best seller.    Click here!
