Some thoughts about Mexico

Mexico has a lot to feel good about at the end of 2012:

a) the elections were clean and confirm the nation's political maturity.  In fact, Mexico's voter ID system can teach us a thing or two.  Mexico has one of the most developed and efficient voting mechanisms in the world;

b) the Mexican economy is pretty good.  The Economist recently had an editorial:  The rise of Mexico!  There are more and more signs that Mexicans are staying home rather going north to participate in the US economy.  Why come home and struggle in the Obama economy?  It makes a lot more sense to stay home and make a living.

At the same time, the violence is terrible and most Americans still have a negative view of the country.

Furthermore, the Obama administration has shown little interest in Mexico, or for that matter, Latin America.

Pres BO only talks about Mexico when he is pandering for the Mexican-American vote in the US.

Pres BO avoids Mexico when we are talking about free trade or an explanation of how 2,000 high powered weapons flew over the border and landed on the laps of the cartels.   We also learned today that another "Fast & Furious" gun was found at a murder site in Mexico!

It's time for Pres BO to get serious about Mexico.

Let's stop the "5 de Mayo" speeches and actually present an Obama immigration proposal.  (We have not seen one in 5 years)

Let's stop the speeches and call on Hollywood to stop glamorizing drug use in movies and culture.  Our demand for illegal drugs is funding the cartels.

Last, but not least, let's stop the nonsense and explain how the aforementioned weapons "flew" over the border.
