The Dixie Cups and a song that everybody loves

"The chapel of love" is one of the most popular songs ever recorded.  It was # 1 this week in 1964.  It was also the only big hit by The Dixie Cups. 

The young women were were sisters Barbara Ann (20) & Rosa Lee Hawkins (19) plus cousin Joan Marie Johnson (also 19).  They didn't record a lot of hits but "Chapel of Love" is a pop classic.  You can hear the song in movie soundtracks and oldies stations all over.  My guess is that kids will enjoy this song 100 years from now.

The girls had a second hit called "People say".  It wasn't as big or memorable but still fun to listen to.
