Gov Romney wins Texas and moves one step closer to winning in November

Gov Romney "got it" in Texas last night.  He will be the GOP nominee this fall and let's all get down to business.

Let's take a look at the Romney vs Obama campaign in late May:

1) The "poll numbers" look very good for Romney.  The latest "RCP average of polls" has it a dead heat.  However, the key number is that Pres BO, the incumbent, is under 50%!  Ask any political consultant and he will tell that incumbents consistently under 50% lose reelection!

2) The Obama reelection message shifts from week to week.  It was "hope and change" in 2008.   Ed Morrissey nailed it:  It's "fear and inertia" this time around!

3) The Obama message goes a bit like this:

"We killed Osama.....Romney is going to send your "abuela" back to Mexico.....we killed Osama......Romney is going to take your grandmother's Social Security check and give it to the rich......we killed Osama.....the world respects us because Obama said so.......Romney is going to make us extremely unpopular in Europe because he won't promise to close GITMO.....we killed Osama.....did I tell you that we killed Osama?....yes I killed Osama."

Sorry, a campaign of fear is not going to cut it.    Again, I loved Ed's analysis:

"Obama's bigger problem is his lack of a coherent and positive vision. In 2008, Obama's team didn't need to produce a complicated and nuanced agenda for his presidency; not being the establishment was enough.

This time, Obama has to either produce a real agenda to justify a second term after three years of economic stagnation, or he has to make his opponent look scary and weird.

So far, Team Obama has opted for Plan Scary. They have painted Mitt Romney as a heartless "vampire capitalist" and dug up stories of high-school bullying. They have used Ann Romney's passion for horses as a way to remind voters of just how wealthy the Romneys are.

But those attacks have largely backfired as Democrats objected to attacks on private equity, an industry on which they rely for donors, and the mean-spiritedness of the personal attacks stoked sympathy for the Romneys, especially Ann."

Again, "Plan Scary" won't cut it.  It reminds me of 1980 when a desperate Pres Carter promoted candidate Reagan as a threat and too dangerous to sit in the Oval Office.

It fell apart for two reasons.

Carter was a failure.  It's hard to defend "failure" by scaring people about your opponent.

The second reason is that Reagan just said:  "There you go again....."

Most people laughed and agreed with Reagan.  He carried 41 states and the election was over around 8pm CT!

I don't know if the Obama campaign will be stupid enough to continue playing "Plan Scary".  At the same time, what else are they going to do?  Defend their record?

Nobody is paying attention to Pres BO, specially Democrats

Remember when he had 60 votes in the US Senate & a 40-plus majority in the US House?

He still has a 53-47 majority in the US Senate.

Yet no one is paying attention to Pres BO's "to do list".  He speaks and no one listens, specially Dems running for reelection between NY City and San Francisco:

"In the meantime, several Senators confessed to Roll Call that they don’t know what is on the to-do list anyway, despite several speeches in which Obama has urged his followers to tweet, call, write and email lawmakers urging them to take it up."  (RollCall)

We call this a lack of leadership and an understanding that Pres BO is  under 50% in most job approval polls.

We've come a long way from "hope and change".....haven't we?

The "food ration" card never affected Mariela's family

Mariela Castro's visit reminds us that Cuban mothers have been feeding their families under the so called "ration card".

This is from Humberto Fontova:

"To wit, in 1962 the Soviet satrapy overlorded by Mariela’s family started rationing food to its subjects (in 1958, by the way, Cubans enjoyed the 5rd highest protein consumption in the Western hemisphere.) Under Soviet tutelage Mariela’s uncle Fidel and his toadies decreed that their subjects’ daily food intake would henceforth total: 2 ounces of meat, 3 ounces of rice, and 6.5 ounces of starch and 1 ounce of beans.
Interestingly, back in 1842 the Spanish King had royally decreed daily rations of 8 ounces of meat, 4 ounces of rice, and 16 ounces of starch and 4 ounces of beans for all slaves in the Spanish colony of Cuba.
This means, that Cuba’s literal slaves ate better than Queen Mariela’s “emancipated” subjects—if it were left up to her family’s regime, that is. Fortunately Cuba’s Black Market takes up the considerable slack."

We know that Mariela did not grow up with "the ration card".   We also know that the "card" did not apply to Mariela, her Italian husband or their 3 children.

Nobody asked Mariela about "food ration" cards or free elections in Cuba.  It speaks volumes about the audience and the travesty of her visit.

Elvis Andrus should be the starting shortstop for the AL this summer

The Rangers are 31-18 and 6.5 games over the Angels.  They have the best record in the AL and second only to the Dodgers for best in the MLB.

The Rangers' success is due to good starting pitching, an outstanding bullpen, Josh Hamilton, a very good lineup and the playing of Elvis Andrus.

As of today, Elvis is .305 and playing his position like never before.  We remind you that this is Elvis' 3rd season in the majors and he will turn 24 this year.  Elvis is still very young and will probably win a gold glove.

I know that Derek Jeter will win the fan vote.  Jeter deserves everything that he gets.  He is one of the greatest players in MLB history.  He is definitely the greatest Yankee of the last 30 years.

However, I hope that Elvis is selected because he has earned it this year.

The GOP primary: I voted for Ted Cruz on Friday

Mitt Romney will win the Texas GOP primary and probably clinch the nomination.  At the same time, that's nothing new since Sen Santorum and Speaker Gingrich effectively dropped out weeks ago.

We do have a very exciting US Senate primary.  It includes Lt Governor Drewhurst, Mr Cruz, former Dallas mayor Leppert and former ESPN analyst James.

I voted for Ted Cruz yesterday.  I have to recognize that Cruz and Drewhurst will probably go to the runoff.

My vote went to reelect US Rep Marchant & State Sen Nelson.  Unfortunately, there were very too many candidates without opposition.  I think that competition is good for the party and for the elected officials.

What happens at the runoff? Your guess is as good as mine.  It will be pretty intense.  I plan to vote for Ted Cruz again in the runoff.

Ted Cruz is a candidate for significant national potential.  Like Sen Rubio in Florida, he puts Hispanics conservatives in the middle of the political arena.

On another topic, I was very happy to see BO-Care and school choice on the ballot.  We need to fight for school choice because that's the only way that public education can survive in the future.

Mariela for Obama

She looks like a well dressed and groomed Western capitalist lady.

I don't see any signs of "food ration cards" or "voluntary sugar cane cutting" in Mariela's face.

There is none of the proletariat look in Mariela Castro.

She is Mariela Castro, the daughter of a corrupt  dictator with a huge bank account in Switzerland.   I'm positive that she grew up enjoying US TV shows by satellite dish.  I'm convinced that she took her share of shopping trips to Western cities for capitalist dresses, purses & shoes.  Finally, we all know that she never spent one day eating from the food ration card that Cuban mothers are forced to endure today.

This woman is a fraud.  I despise anyone who gives her a minute of their day.   Even gay leaders in South Florida see her as a fraud!  They remember how the Castro dictatorship treated homosexuals in Cuba!

This woman does not deserve to walk in the US.  She mocks our freedom, our constitutional liberties and way of life by walking on our land.

Again, Mariela is a fraud!

We learned today that Mariela is an Obama supporter:

"Fidel Castro's niece on Wednesday hailed Barack Obama's support for gay marriage and the loosening of US-Cuba travel restrictions, saying: "I would vote for President Obama."

Mariela Castro, the daughter of President Raul Castro, also lamented the "small group of delinquents" whom she said were preventing the warming of ties between Washington and Havana.

"I think he's sincere and speaks from the heart," Castro -- whose US trip has been denounced by opposition Republicans -- said of Obama's recent public endorsement of gay marriage.

"I think it's something that he truly believes in... If I were a US citizen, I would vote for President Obama," she added, speaking via an interpreter at her first public event in a trip to San Francisco."

The Romney campaign is very quick again.  They are calling on the Obama reelection campaign to reject the endorsement:

" “President Obama should disavow the endorsement of the daughter of Cuban dictator Raul Castro. It is galling that an envoy from a Communist regime would come to our country and lecture the American people on who to vote for while the regime refuses to hold free and fair elections and systematically violates the human rights of its people. The decision by the Obama Administration to welcome Mariela Castro to our shores—a decision that has received rightful criticism from both Republicans and Democrats—continues to be an egregious affront to the people of Cuba and those who love freedom everywhere.”"

Frankly, this visa for Mariela has turned into a massive embarrassment for the Obama administration.

First, they issue her a visa and let her travel freely in the US.

Second, she endorses Pres BO.

Do you recall the last time that a member of a country's communist elite was allowed to travel to the US and engage in political posturing?

Yes, Pres Bush approved a visa for Mariela Castro in 2002.  However, her visit was very quiet and she avoided contact with the press or political pronouncements.

Mariela's visit is a disgrace, an insult to every Cuban-American who's had family members tortured or imprisoned by the Castro brothers.

Romney can start talking to Hispanics by supporting school choice

How do you get Hispanics to vote for a GOP candidate?

First, you nominate someone who supports economic growth and does not pander to Hispanics with "immigration" promises that he does not mean to keep.

Second, you nominate someone who is pro-life and supports the idea that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Third, you nominate someone who believes that education is the key for integrating legal immigrants into the US economy.

Gov Romney called for public education reform today.  He wants parents to enjoy the advantage of sending their kids of a school of their choice NOT the ones run by the public teachers' unions:

"Mr. Romney announced the push on education in a speech in Washington as he made overtures to Hispanic voters, who regularly tell pollsters that access to education is one of their top concerns — even above immigration — and who generally support vouchers.

“Here we are in the most prosperous nation, but millions of kids are getting a Third World education. And America’s minority children suffer the most,” Mr. Romney said in a speech to the Latino Coalition, a conservative Hispanic organization

“This is the civil rights issue of our era. And it’s the great challenge of our time.”

And he declared war on teachers unions, saying they “are the clearest example of a group that has lost its way.” He said Mr. Obama is too beholden to the unions to be able to reform the school system.

“President Obama has been unable to stand up to union bosses — and unwilling to stand up for kids,” Mr. Romney said, accusing the president of putting the unions’ campaign donations ahead of the needs of students those teachers are teaching." (WashTimes)

I think that this is a very good move and should be well received by Hispanic parents.

We remind Hispanic parents that Pres BO has always sent  his daughters to private school, whether in Chicago or now in Washington DC.  In other words, Pres BO takes money from the union but would rather have his daughters taught by private schools.

School choice, or "vouchers", is simple.  Parents get a "voucher" and then choose a school for their kids.   After all, it is the parents who pay the property taxes who support public education.  Why shouldn't  parents have a vote on  how their kids are educated?

The net result of "vouchers" is that it will force the public school system to compete and  excel.   No more monopoly or massive school districts.

The public teachers' union, who support Pres BO & Dems, is not happy with  "vouchers" because it puts the kids first.

We should put the kids first.  Education is about putting kids first not protecting incompetent teachers.

Pres BO has big problems with Southern Dems

This is a story that must be causing a bit of "indigestion" at the Obama reelection office.

"President Barack Obama continued to have trouble on Tuesday performing in Democratic primaries in traditionally conservative states, barely eking out wins in Kentucky and Arkansas.

The president didn’t even have an opponent in Kentucky, but with 99 percent of the vote counted, Obama took just 57.9 percent of the vote, with the remaining more than 42 percent of ballots cast for “uncommitted.”

In Arkansas, with 70 percent of the vote tallied, Obama nabbed just 59 percent of the vote. His opponent there, John Wolfe, was able to take 41 percent of the vote at that point, according to The Associated Press.

Wolfe, an attorney from Tennessee whose platform includes repealing “Obamacare,” was able to win several counties." (Politico)

We saw similar problems in Louisiana (76-24), North Carolina (79-21), Oklahoma (57-43) and West Virginia (59-41).   Kentucky was also a problem (57-42)

Again, Pres BO had no formal opposition except in Arkansas where an underfunded opponent ran against by calling for the repeal of BO-Care!

So what's going on?

As Richard Baehr mentioned on our show Tuesday, these are Dems in name only.  More and more Southern Dems are voting GOP at the national level.  These are the sons and daughters of the Reagan Democrats, the conservative base of the Dem party that does not subscribe to the San Francisco values proposed by Pres BO.

My guess is that this "protest vote" was driven a bit by Pres BO's recent decision to "evolve" into supporting same sex marriage.  I don't think that "same sex marriage" plays well in all of those counties between NY City and San Francisco.  I know that it does not.  Same sex marriage goes down big every time that voters get to vote!

Pres BO will win the nomination but my guess is that the party will have to offer some seats to non-BO delegates.  At the very least, Pres BO won't be unanimously renominated.

Pres BO can not hit 50% with a poll that "oversampled" Dems

The latest Wash Post/ABC poll reveals a lot about the media and the Obama campaign.

First, the poll does not have an honest sample.   Ed Morrissey looked at the sample and concluded that it was a joke:

"Take a close look at the Republican representation in WaPo/ABC polls this year. Starting in January, that has been 25%, 23%, 27%, 23%, and now 22%.  The pollster seems incapable of finding a representative number of Republicans for this poll series.  Perhaps that should give the two news organizations involved a hint about finding a new pollster."

How did a poll like this get published in the first place?  Isn't there someone at the Washington Post or ABC News who actually cares about the reputation of their respective organizations?

Second, this poll also tells you a lot about the media.  It confirms that there are too many media organizations who are sloppy, or perhaps "in the tank" for BO.

Here is the bottom line:  Pres BO can not get to 50% despite a sample that "over samples" Dems.

My guess is that Pres BO is stuck in the 45-46% range!  This is what you see in Rasmussen and Gallup, a couple of organizations that do polls based on registered or likely voters.  I should also add that Gallup & Rasmussen are in the "poll business" rather than working to reelect Pres BO!

Time for "a Reset" between the U.S. and Mexico

This article was originally published at The American thinker.

It looks like Mexico will elect Sr. Pena-Nieto this summer.  It looks like the U.S. will elect Gov. Romney this fall.

If this turns out to be the case, let's hope that these two men bring some fresh ideas, because the U.S.-Mexico relationship desperately needs a new "reset."

It's fair to say that Pres. Calderón and Pres. Obama did not get much done.  Theirs was not a fruitful relationship for three reasons:

1) Pres. Obama was never really interested in Mexico.  He was, and continues to be, a Chicago Democrat more in tune with the labor unions and crony capitalism than with free trade with Mexico or Latin America.

As we recall from the 2008 campaign, candidate Obama ran against free trade agreements and promised to renegotiate NAFTA.

Even The Washington Post could not believe the level of pandering from candidate Obama.

He demonstrated his incredible ignorance of our southern neighbor when he said that Mexico does not have "labor laws."  The opposite is true; in fact, Mexico needs to reform its labor laws and make itself more attractive to employers rather than make it impossible for companies to fire people.

2) The Obama-Calderón relationship was poisoned from day one when Pres. Obama and Dems dumped the "truck agreement" that Pres. Bush had negotiated.  This was done without consulting Mexico.  It was the Dem majority pandering to the labor unions.  It's not a good day for diplomacy when the new president of the U.S. pulls the rug out from a major economic partner like Mexico.

3) Finally, Pres. Calderón made the foolish mistake of carrying Pres. Obama's water on SB 1070, the Arizona immigration law.  It made Calderón the face of the Arizona law and killed any chance of getting anything done.  (Let's not forget that a lot of those Dems who applauded Pres. Calderón's Arizona-bashing speech lost in 2010.)

Furthermore, Pres. Calderón stabbed the Republicans who had fought for the Mérida Plan and criticized the aforementioned "truck decision."  Someone in the Mexican embassy forgot to tell Pres. Calderón that he had more friends in the GOP than in "the union controlled" Dem party.

At the same time, Pres. Calderón got nothing from Pres. Obama -- i.e. no immigration reform was ever submitted to Congress when the Dems had majorities.

I have never seen a Mexican president used so cynically by a U.S. president.  I hope that Pres. Pena-Nieto will refresh the political team in the Washington embassy; after all, I don't think that these "experts" gave Pres. Calderón good advice.

We knew that the Calderón-Obama talks were not very productive when the biggest headline from a recent visit was that the Mexican first lady loves the NY Jets and their QB, Matt Sanchez.

But back to the present and the near future.  We've reached an important point, and a new relationship is desperately needed.

For one thing, the killing in Mexico is horrific.  We get one headline after another.  For another, the press has been targeted!  How can Mexicans understand what is  happening in their country when journalists are being shot and intimidated?  And then there's the news regarding the tragedy of Central Americans crossing Mexico.

In short, Pres. Romney and Pres. Pena-Nieto need to sit down and speak bluntly to each other.

1) Border security is a matter of national security for both countries.  Unfortunately, Pres. Obama's border policy was all based on pandering to the Mexican vote in the US.  He was never serious!  He was interested just in scaring Hispanics into believing that the GOP would send their "abuela back to Durango."  Actually, it is the Obama economy sending "abuela" and lots of others back to just about every state in Mexico (including Durango!).

2) If we're going to address the Mexican cartels, it's time to let U.S. soldiers tackle them directly.  Let the cartels understand that they will face a division of the U.S. Army rather than border agents on bicycles.  I understand that the border patrol does a great job, but they are no match to gangs with high-powered weapons.

Bottom line?  Pres. Romney should declare that Mexican cartels are a threat to our security and label them terrorists!  We need to escalate our game and drive home the point that breaches of our border will not be tolerated.  Romney should authorize commanders on the ground to use whatever tactics are necessary, from preemptive attacks to drone strikes.  In other words, we need to start using our technology to kill leaders!

Why U.S. soldiers?  The Mexican Army is exhausted and stretched too thin.  U.S. soldiers will bring a new seriousness to the mission and welcome relief to a Mexican army drained from five years of a very heavy war.

The Mexican army has done a great job.  But at the same time, Mexico's army was never created to fight a war of this kind.  It has to be retrained, like in Colombia under Plan Colombia.

Will Mexicans support U.S. troops?  I was surprised to read that "[m]ost Mexicans want U.S. to take a bigger role in fighting violence[.]"  And I think that more and more Mexicans understand that their army is not capable of fighting this war.  Again, the violence has reached a point where people want security rather than abstract discussions of sovereignty.  (Sovereignty means nothing if cartels are killing people and journalists all over.)

Of course, we understand that the military option is not a magic bullet.  Mexico needs to make some internal changes, such as improving its police force and enforcing the rule of law.  However, you have to have security before you have honest policemen and a judicial system that works for all, not just those who have connections.

3) Pres. Romney needs to remind U.S. voters that they are funding the drug wars with their illegal drug purchases.  We are contributing to the killing south of the border every time we casually smoke marijuana or try cocaine.  We are the consumers, and that needs to be said over and over again.

It's important for Pres. Romney, and Anne Romney, to talk about drug consumption as a threat to our children and a deposit in the cash register of the Mexican cartels.

4) Pres. Pena-Nieto needs to tell Mexicans, and their political class, to stop blaming U.S. immigration laws for all of Mexico's problems.  Mexicans should be reminded that Mexico has immigration laws, too.  It's time for Mexico to reform itself so that the country is more attractive to young people.  Mexico is still living in the 1930s when it comes to PEMEX, and in the 1920s when it comes to land management.

Let's hope that the "new PRI" will reform two of the "old PRI's" sacred cows -- i.e., the incredibly inefficient and corrupt PEMEX, plus the unproductive agricultural sector.

5) Pres. Romney and Pres. Pena-Nieto need to revive the old "brasero" program killed by the Dems in the late 1960s.  It was not perfect, but it did create a legal mechanism for employers and employees to work together.

I know that I'm getting ahead of myself because the elections are still in the future.  But regardless of who's in office, Mexico and the U.S. need a tough and frank discussion about some mutual, and very serious, problems.

We did not have it with Pres. Calderón and Pres. Obama.  We need it now!

I am confident that Pres. Romney will tell the new Mexican president some things that Pres. Calderón never heard from Pres. Obama.

My guess is that most Mexicans in Mexico will be happy to hear that we have a president of the U.S. who will kill people with AK-47s rather than one who engages in "coqueteo" and gives meaningless "Cinco de Mayo" speeches to entertain the "si se puede" crowd.

Bad timing: A visa for Mariela Castro to coincide with Cuban Independence Day celebrations in Miami?

There is good timing and there is bad timing.

We learned this week that the Obama administration issued a visa to Mariela Castro, or Raul Castro's daughter.

Mariela's visa was roundly criticized by Dem Senator Menendez of New Jersey and GOP Senator Rubio from Florida.

Again, what was the reason for this visa?  What is Mariela Castro going to do in the US?  What is the objective of her visit?

I don't know but Mariela supports "same sex marriage" in Cuba.  I'm sorry for being a little cynical but did her support for "same sex marriage" have something to do with her visit?  Is she going to meet with the "homosexual left" in the US?

Shouldn't someone in the media ask Mariela about her father's position on civil rights or free elections for Cubans regardless of their sexual orientation?  Also, will the "homosexual left" remind Mariela Castro that her father's regime was brutal against homosexuals not long ago.  (Humberto Fontova wrote about this over at Babalu today)

It's time for the US to get out of Afghanistan if nobody in NATO wants to fight anymore

During the Bush years, we were told that the Europeans did not like Pres Bush.

We were told that Pres Bush was "too blunt" and not the kind of "sweet talker" that wimpy Europeans are accustomed to.

We just learned this week that the Europeans are not working with Pres BO either.  France will soon leave Afghanistan.  NATO is now a memory, a World War II memory to say the least.

Pres BO needs to speak bluntly (more like Bush) to the Europeans.  We need to make it very clear:  We fight as NATO or the US will come home and the Europeans can defend themselves.

Since the end of WW2, the US has defended Europe with tanks & troops.  Our Mediterranean Fleet and an Air Force protected them as well.

The US public supported NATO because it was based on mutual cooperation, i.e. everybody's son was in the fight!

This is not NATO anymore.  NATO is now the US, UK and Canada.  It can not be 3 countries putting their sons in harm's way anymore.

The Afghanistan conflict has lost US support.  Some of the blame goes to the Obama administration's unwillingness to explain what 100,000 of our finest sons are doing over there.

The second reason is that Americans keep reading about their sons dying and European politicians calling for an end to their commitment.

It's time for Pres BO to be blunt:  We leave if no one fights with us.

Pres BO was "the darling" of Europe in large part because he was the American who told them what they wanted to hear.   It's time for Pres BO to tell them what they need to hear:  NATO means that we all fight.....otherwise, we will come home and you guys can defend yourselves.

I guess that it was BO who started the "born in Kenya" speculation

It does not get any crazier than this.

We learned that BO was "born in Kenya".

Where did we learn that?  We read it in a brochure published in 1991 (and not corrected until 2007) by BO's literary agent.

Let me explain.

BO's literary agent published a "client" brochure, i.e. list of authors and others represented by the firm.  It included little "bios" about the clients.

BO was listed as "born in Kenya" and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.

The "birthers" need to relax.  It was BO who told the world that he was born in Kenya.

The Rubios are a very nice family

There is a very nice story about Marco & Jeannette Rubio.  He is the son of Cuban immigrants and she is the daughter of Colombian immigrants.

The story is "Meet the Rubios" and worth reading.  It may be your first encounter with this very nice couple from Florida.

The story has a bit of a fairy tale to it.  They went to the same high school in Miami.  They actually met when Marco was 19 and Jeannette was 17.

Marco went to law school.  She was a Dolphins cheerleader.  They eventually married, have 4 children and live very close to their parents in Miami.

I don't know what Mitt Romney is thinking about that very important VP choice.  However, my guess is that Mario Rubio is very high on the list.

Rubio speaks well and he delivers a conservative message about freedom, free enterprise, personal liberty and a strong belief in traditional marriage.

My guess is that it will be Romney-Rubio.

I think that you will see Jeannette holding the family bible when Marco is sworn is as VP next January.

Remembering how Robin Gibb & The Bee Gees sang for 50 years!

Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees Dies at 62 | PEOPLE.com
As we remember Robin Gibb's life, we are reminded of the brothers' contribution to pop music.

They started singing when they were kids.  They had hit records in Australia when Barry was 17 and Robin & Maurice were 14.

They became international superstars in 1967 and dominated the charts with 6 consecutive # 1 songs, from "How deep is your love" in 1977 to "Love you inside out" in the summer of '79.

They also wrote and produced albums for Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick & Diana Ross.

To my knowledge, The Bee Gees are the only group with a hit in 4 decades.  They charted on the international charts from 1966 to Maurice's death in 2003.

Robin charted recently when he recorded a song remembering UK soldiers.  He had some solo efforts in the 1980s such as "Juliet".

His last recording was "The Titanic Requiem", a music score that he wrote about the 100th anniversary of the Titanic.  Robin was too ill to attend the premiere.

The brothers sold over 200 million records and the Gibb songbook is recognized all over the world.  They leave a pop musical legacy second only to Lennon-McCartney.
