Anne, the other Romney that we want in The White House!

We usually "get two" when we elect a president.  We get a First Lady, too.

Generally, we like and defend First Ladies.  They are often put in a "no-win situation".  They have to smile and listen to criticisms of their husbands.  That's not easy as any First Lady will confirm!

We've appreciated the wonderful contributions that they've made over the years.

We remember how Mrs Carter invested a lot of her time talking about mental health reform.  Or Mrs Reagan's "just say no" campaign to discourage drug use among schoolchildren.  Or Mrs Bush reading to children on the radio.  Or the second Mrs Bush standing up for women rights in Afghanistan.

As far as Michelle Obama is concerned, I've kept my criticisms strictly to finances.  It is a bit absurd to have so much travel when the country is running deficits. Beyond that, she has represented the country well with her smile and elegance.

Anne Romney could very well be the next First Lady of the US.  Frankly, I think that she will do well and represent the country with class.

Mitt was 18 when he met 15-year old Anne.  They dated for a while and married in 1969.

Anne's story is rather remarkable.  She has a connection to South Wales: How Ann Romney's incredible family journey from a Welsh coal mine could end in the White House

Her life story has that immigrant connection that so many of us appreciate.  It is the story of people who came here to pursue freedom and a better life.

Along the way, Anne and Mitt had 5 sons and lots of grandchildren.  She has also been a wonderful  wife and mother.

And she will make a wonderful First Lady.

We discussed Anne Romney's role with Barry Casselman:
