1957: Sam Cooke and "You send me" was # 1 this week

Who does not like Sam Cooke's voice and songs?

I became a huge fan in the 1970s when I heard an album of his songs.  What an incredible talent!  What great songs!

Sam Cooke was just fantastic.  His biggest hit was "You send me", a pop classic that just gets better with age.  My other favorites are "Cupid" and "What a wonderful world", a couple of great pop tunes:

"Darling you send me I know you send me

Darling you send me Honest you do, honest you do
Honest you do, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You thrill me I know you, you, you thrill me
Darling you, you, you, you thrill me
Honest you do
At first I thought it was infatuation
But woo, it's lasted so long
Now I find myself wanting
To marry you and take you home
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You, you, you, you send me I know you send me
I know you send me Honest you do
Whoa-oh-oh, whenever I'm with you
I know, I know, I know when I'm near you
Mmm hmm, mmm hmm, honest you do, honest you do
Whoa-oh-oh, I know-oh-oh-oh
I know, I know, I know, when you hold me
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, whenever you kiss me
Mmm hmm, mmm hmm, honest you do
At first I thought it was infatuation
But woo, it's lasted so long
Now I find myself wanting
To marry you and take you home
I know, I know, I know, you send me
I know you send me
Whoa-oh-oh-oh, you you you you send me
Honest you do....."
