A little "off season" baseball PLUS Veterans Day!

Bob Feller, the Hall of Fame pitcher, died last year.  He was one of many professional athletes who served in World War II.

We remember Feller and every other veteran.

Like so many of you, I say "thanks" to all of the veterans on Veterans Day.  It is the day that we salute the millions of fellow citizens who serve or served in the US Armed Forces.

It is a day to salute and say thanks.  It is also a good day to remember who has fought, and continues to fight, to defend our way of life.

Happy Veterans Day!

On Friday, we spoke "off season" baseball with Paul Greco, a sports journalist and friend of the show.  (I should add that Paul is an Air Force veteran)

Baseball fans love the "off season" or the "hot stove" league.  It gives us all an opportunity to fantasize about our home team rosters, trades and free agent additions.

The Rangers won't be very active, although Paul said that Prince Fielder would fit very well in Texas.  I agree with that but Nolan Ryan may get "sticker shock" when he talks to him.

The Rangers are in a great position to repeat as AL champs.  They have a great young team and the farm system is strong.  Therefore, there is no need to panic and try to recreate the team.

First, sign CJ Wilson.  It's simple!  Do you have a lefthander who can give you 200 innings and win 15 games?

Second, make Feliz a starter and turn Mike Adams into your closer.   (I'm OK with talking to free agent Heath Bell about coming here)

Third, leave Mitch Moreland at first base.  We can get 25 Hrs out of first base by platooning Moreland, Young & Napoli.

Of course, I am always open to trading for a reliable starter.  Unfortunately, those guys usually come at a big price and I don't want give up any more young arms.

Here is the good news:  Pitchers and catchers will be in Arizona in 90 days.  It won't be long before we can watch baseball again.
