A year ago, Cliff Lee was the talk of the town. Every caller to the talk shows was saying that Texas should do "whatever" and pay "top dollar" to keep Lee.
A year later, no one remembers Lee around here.
First, Texas would not have been able to sign Beltre if they had retained Lee.
Second, most Texas' fans underestimated the farm system, specially the young pitchers who've been developed under the Nolan Ryan-Jon Daniels tenure.
We wish Lee the best in Philadelphia. Wonder if he ever thinks about the decision to skip Texas and sign with the Phillies?
