By the way, didn't candidate BO once say that he'd sit unconditionally with the leader of Iran? Doesn't that sound foolish now? I guess that it sounds as foolish as closing GITMO!
Today, we discovered an Iranian terrorist plot and Mexican cartels were a part of it:
"The just announced Iranian-sponsored plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States spotlights the growing collaboration between terrorist groups and Mexican drug cartels.
According to a Department of Justice press release, Manssor Arbabsiar, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was approached by his cousin, a “big general” in the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Qods Force, early in the spring of 2011 about recruiting narco-traffickers to kidnap or murder the ambassador in the United States." (Miller)
Frankly, I am not surprised that Iran would try to attack us on US soil. They've been at war with the US since 1979. They don't care whether the president is Bush or Obama.
Can we now drop the "kumbaya" rhetoric and treat Iran like an enemy? We don't need to delay sanctions because China and Russia keep voting "no" at the UN Security Council.
It's time to form "a coalition of the willing" and go forward with very serious sanctions.
We also must remind Iran that targeting US soldiers in Iraq will have very serious consequences, such as stealth B-2's that drop very big bombs or cruise missiles that target leaders!
Can we also stop pretending that the US-Mexico border is safe?
Iran did not think that it was safe. Iran was completely persuaded that Mexican cartels had the routes and the avenues to get bombs into the US.
We congratulate the authorities here and in Mexico for stopping the plot. It was good work. However, we are not going to be lucky every time.
P.S. We spoke about this with Joey Norris on Wednesday's show:
