Yes, some of us guys are consumed these days with playoff baseball, A&M vs Baylor on Saturday and the Cowboys-Patriots on Sunday. What a weekend to watch sports on TV.
So how do you keep your wife happy and still talking to you on a weekend saturated with sports like this? How do you convince your wife that you care more about her than those games on TV?
I have an idea. Cheer loudly for the Aggies, Rangers and Cowboys. And make some time to do something with your wife.
Rent "South Pacific" and have a quiet date with your wife sometime this weekend. "South Pacific" is one of the finest movies ever made. The music is great!
"Some enchanted evening" from "South Pacific" is one of the greatest love songs ever composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
It's amazing and absolutely lovely! What a melody. Aren't the lyrics just spectacular? I've always loved this song!
I recently saw a bit of "South Pacific" on US TV. It was great!
Idea: Watch "South Pacific" and tell your wife that you met her some "enchanted evening" and heard her laughter across a crowded room.
Click here for the song and enjoy this movie with your wife. My guess is that she will enjoy it too.
This the aforementioned Lincoln Center version of "South Pacific" with Paulo Szot singing "Some enchanted evening" and Kelli O'Hara as Nellie:
"Emile:
Some enchanted evening You may see a stranger,
you may see a stranger Across a crowded room
And somehow you know, You know even then
That somewhere you'll see her Again and again.
Some enchanted evening Someone may be laughin',
You may hear her laughin' Across a crowded room
And night after night, As strange as it seems
The sound of her laughter Will sing in your dreams.
Who can explain it? Who can tell you why?
Fools give you reasons, Wise men never try.
Some enchanted evening When you find your true love,
When you feel her call you Across a crowded room,
Then fly to her side, And make her your own
For all through your life you May dream all alone.
Once you have found her, Never let her go.
Once you have found her, Never let her go!"
