What's wrong with that? Well, no one consulted Congress.
Worse than that, we don't have a "work permit" that 10 million people can apply for! It does not exist. It was never created by Congress. We have not had anything close to that since the Democrats cancelled the "brasero" program in 1966.
Yes, we also learned two important things about this administration:
1) Pres BO does not care about our Constitution. We live under a constitution that does not give the president the power to change our immigration laws.
Here is the bottom line: It's up to Congress to create a work-permit program or end deportations.
Apparently, Pres BO wants to accomplish by executive order what he couldn't get from a Dem majority in Congress!
2) Pres BO is desperately looking for "mexicano" votes by any means necessary, including executive orders that charge laws that only Congress can change.
No one wants to separate families or deny young "dreamers" a chance to apply for some legal status. However, the Obama administration is usurping Congress’ legislative authority.
What's going on? Why is the Obama administration suddenly ending deportations or encouraging people to look for work permits.
The answer is simple and very cynical: He needs "mexicano" votes. He needs to recreate the magic of 2008 when "mexicanos" voted for candidate BO in huge numbers.
I hope that "mexicanos" learned their lesson and will be more skeptical the next time that he comes around with "hope and change".
