They told me that we would keep troops in Iraq IF I voted for McCain!

As we expected, the Obama administration is putting pressure on Iraq to keep troops in that country.

We saw this today:

"Under intense U.S. pressure, Iraqi leaders announced early Wednesday they had agreed to start negotiations on keeping some American soldiers in the country after the current Dec. 31 deadline for all U.S. troops to have left Iraq."

Frankly, it makes sense to keep a military presence in Iraq.  We kept a presence in the Korea peninsula and it served to keep the peace.  We also maintained a force in Europe and it kept Soviet tanks away from Western Europe.

We need a force to remind Iran that Iraq is "off limits" to their crazy ambitions.  It also projects US power in a region impressed by military force rather than "hope and change."

It makes a lot of sense, from a national security standpoint.

However, how is Pres BO going to explain this one the "yes we can" screamers?

It sounds like Pres BO is ready to implement the McCain Iraq policy, or the same one that the Dems mocked during the '08 campaign.

Watch this Dem ad from '08.  It cynically twisted Sen McCain's words and criticized the idea that we would keep troops in Iraq beyond the '08 agreement.  The ad did not give you the whole context of Sen McCain's words or answer to that question.

Once again, we see an Obama "flip flop" and further evidence that he was telling a lot of people what they wanted to hear in the campaign:
