Where did the last 37 years ago? They passed quickly, from Ford to Carter to Reagan to Bush to Clinton to Bush and now Obama!
I can remember Pres Nixon's speech and Pres Ford's inauguration address. It wasn't much of a speech but it was a soothing moment. We felt a lot better because the Watergate scandal had taken its toll on the presidency and the country.
How will history remember Pres Nixon? He will be remembered as the man who let a scandal destroy his presidency. He could have killed the whole thing in the spring of '73 by accepting responsibility and dismissing some subordinates.
What about Pres Ford? He will be get very high marks for putting the country on the same path after the Watergate scandal.
