I guess that you have to go back to Pres Clinton pushing NAFTA to recall so much anger in the left wing of the Dem party. Or, Ralph Nader running against VP Gore in 2000 as a protest to Pres Clinton signing all of those GOP bills during his second term! Or, Sen Ted Kennedy challenging Pres Carter in 1980!
Froma Harrop wants a primary challenge because she does not think that the man that she massively fell in love with in 2008 has a heartbeat:

Check out those golden days of '08 when they treated BO like "a savior" rather than a presidential candidate. We warned them that the whole thing was a fantasy and "too good to be true".
