It's Tuesday (and we survived Monday!)

What a Monday!

The market dropped 613 points but it really went down after Pres BO spoke about the S&P downgrade.

Pres BO's speech was so ridiculous that investors reacted to it by buying more and more gold.

First, Pres BO did not present a specific plan but just another round of "finger-pointing" and more blaming.

Isn't this guy the president? See Judith Miller and the "silly speech"

On another topic, we learned today that there is a Jackie Kennedy tape.  I guess that Mrs Kennedy wanted this tape released after her death.  (She died in 1994)

Based on early reports, it looks that Mrs Kennedy had some very crazy ideas about her husband's shooting.  Worse than that, she led a crazy life of her own.  I guess that marital infidelity went both ways in Camelot:

"Kennedy-Onassis thought gunman Lee Harvey Oswald -- long believed to be a lone assassin -- was part of a larger conspiracy involving Johnson, according to the Daily Mail.

The tapes, which were recorded with historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr., also reveal that Kennedy-Onassis had an affair with actor William Holden in retaliation to her husband's reported indiscretions, the Daily Mail reports." (Fox)

First, I guess that Jackie's crazy thoughts about the assassination must have inspired Oliver Stone, another "headcase" who made that very stupid movie "JFK" movie twenty years ago.

Second, does anybody really need to know that Jackie was having an affair to retaliate for Pres Kennedy's womanizing?

Am I the only person in the world who is sick and tired of hearing about the Kennedys?  At some point, we need to let go and let these people rest in peace.

It's time to move on.  Again, I don't want to hear anymore about the Kennedys, their private lives or assassination theories.

On the history front, Pres Nixon resigned 37 years ago.  He announced his resignation in a speech and then formally left the office the next day at noon.

I remember that day.  I remember feeling so bad for Mrs Nixon who had to be hurting during the whole proceedings.  It was a very painful exit for the man who had carried 49 states in the 1972 election!

On a happy note, we congratulate Michael Young of the Rangers for getting his 2000th hit on Sunday night.   We love Michael Young in this blog and I'd love to see him 3,000 hits.  He will be 35 in October and I am rooting for it!

Last, but not least, let's hope that the markets recover.  The US will bounce back but we desperately need some leadership in the White House!
