Last night in Iowa, the GOP minus Perry had a "spirited debate". It was fun and lively but the polls won't change.
Let's grade the individual performances:
Santorum----great guy, long shot for VP if Pennsylvania is in play but he is going nowhere. Frankly, I'd wish he run for the US Senate again.
Cain----great personal story but he needs public sector experience. I love people who have succeeded in the private sector but government is a little different.
Paul----I can't figure him out! He sounds like an economic professor on domestic matters and a leftist fool on foreign policy. Again, I can't figure out "Paul-mania".
Romney----He went in as the leader and will wake up as the leader today. He looks very presidential to me!
Bachman-----lots of passion and very passionate supporters.....I love how she's emerged as a spokeswoman for millions but she will finish 3rd in the delegate count. I'd wish that she run for governor of Minnesota.
Pawlenty---great governor, long shot for VP but did not do much last night. He may be the VP candidate who can bring Minnesota, Wisconsin & Iowa in 2012.
Huntsman----the new face on the scene.....excellent credentials and he'd make an excellent Sec of Commerce because of his knowledge of China.
Gingrich---great lines, great mind but he is a face of the past. I'd love to see Gingrich as our Sec of State! I love how he talks about terrorism and the threats that we face!
Overall, Romney came in as the front runner and he is still the leader today.
What happens next? Perry will come this weekend and that's when the Romney-Perry contest gets going.
Suggestion for next debate? Cut the number of candidate to 5 and give them more time to answer questions.
