The Rangers have pitched themselves into first place!

The Rangers will start an important 3-game series with the Angels tonight.  They are 4 games up and looking better than ever!

First, what about the pitching?  the young pitchers like Harrison, Holland and Ugando?

During the 11-game winning streak, the Rangers have a 2.09 ERA and the opposition is hitting .194! (DallasNews)

The team ERA is 3.79, or a number that this franchise is not usually known for.  They've been around 4.50 for the last few years!

Second, the team is playing together well.  Kinsler is starting to hit.  Hamilton leads the majors in RBIs since he came back from the injury.  Young is .321 and has another shot at 200 hits!  Beltre has been great on the field and leads the team with 72 RBIs.

Can they keep this up?  Yes and no.

Of course, the winning streak will eventually stop.  Also, they have a tough series against the Angels, the Blue Jays and Twins.

Yes.  The Rangers are probably going to build a comfortable lead in the AL West and make modest moves at the end of July.

What should they trade for?  Everybody needs pitching and a couple of veteran arms won't hurt in the bullpen.  Some people are talking about Heath Bell of the Padres but he may cost too much.

What about a front line starter?  I don't know of any but Johnson of the Marlins may be a candidate.  Again, how much is going to cost?

Overall, it's fun to follow the Rangers in July and it will be fun in August and September and into another post-season series.
