What's all the talk about baseball realignment?

We hear that MLB is looking at some realignment ideas as well as adding a second wild card in each league.

According to news reports, MLB is considering doing away with divisions and having a 15-team league with the top 5 teams going to the playoffs.

I don't like it.  I don't like a 15-team league without divisions.

I do like adding a second wild card because that's only fair, specially in the powerful AL East where the 3rd place team wins 90 games.

How do you add another wild card team and not play baseball until Thanksgiving?

First, you can start the season on the last Tuesday of March.

Second, you can add a "best of 3" wild card series.  The winner of that series then moves on the League Division Series.

It sounds good to me.

However, I'm not done with realignment.

MLB needs to move Houston to the AL so that the Rangers and Astros can develop a baseball rivalry similar to the Mavericks and Rockets in the NBA.

So add the 2nd wildcard team and move the Astros to the AL West.

That's a realignment proposal that I can live with!  Click here for Friday's thoughts:
