Remember when The Beatles released different LPs in the US and the UK?

Back in high school days, we had an exchange student from the UK.  He was from Manchester, as he always reminded us.  I guess that we thought that every Brit was from London or Liverpool.

I couldn't understand soccer, specially the "offside" rule.  He couldn't follow baseball, specially in comparison to cricket.  And he'd rather talk about rugby than the NFL!

We did find a lot of common ground on our mutual love for The Beatles.

We compared record collections and quickly learned that The Beatles released different LPs in the UK and US.

I found that he had stuff like "Beatles for Sale" and a very different set of tracks on "Rubber Soul".

Perhaps, "Yesterday and Today" was the best example of all of these differences.

It was released here between "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver" and it included "Day Tripper" and "We can work it out", two songs that were never released in UK LP's.

Click here for "And your bird can sing".

This is one of the best Lennon-McCartney vocal efforts and George played great guitar as always.

We got this song in "Yesterday and Today" but it released in the UK on "Revolver":

"You tell me that you've got everything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don't get me, you don't get me
You say you've seen seven wonders and your bird is green
But you can't see me, you can't see me
When your prized possessions start to weigh you down
Look in my direction, I'll be round, I'll be round
When your bird is broken will it bring you down
You may be awoken, I'll be round, I'll be round
You tell me that you've heard every sound there is
And your bird can swing
But you can't hear me, you can't hear me..."
