We can safely say that Pres BO will win the majority of the Hispanic vote in 2012. Frankly, Dems usually do, specially in the big cities.
However, Pres BO will face two realities:
1) Hispanics are not happy that Pres BO & Dem majority did not take up immigration reform.
We warned Hispanics in 2008 to be careful about jumping on the Dem bandwagon, or listening to someone who was telling them what they wanted to hear.
There is no connection between the Dem party and immigration reform. In fact, it was the Dem party that cancelled the "brasero" program and has opposed efforts to create "temp work visas".
2) Hispanics are getting hit by the economic crisis.
In fact, Merrill Matthews has bad news for Pres BO:
In fact, Merrill Matthews has bad news for Pres BO:
"But the real opportunity for the GOP to get their presidential vote in 2012 comes from the devastating impact President Obama’s economic policies have had on lower-income families.
Texas, where I live, has the second largest Hispanic population; they come mostly from Mexico and Central America, according to the Census.
Most are hard workers who take service sector jobs in agriculture, construction, yard and landscape work, and restaurants.
When the economy goes south, they are some of the first and hardest hit."
2012 won't be 2008. Hispanics will be a lot more skeptical of Pres BO's promises the next time around.
