The War Powers Act has always been an act of faith with liberals.
It was passed by a liberal Congress in 1973 determined to make a statement about Vietnam.
We remind you that Vietnam was escalated by Dem Pres LBJ and ended by Republican Pres Nixon but let's overlook that for now!
To be honest, I think that the WPA is a good idea. We shouldn't tolerate presidents who start wars without congressional resolution.
We remind you that Pres Bush (41) and Pres Bush (43) both went to Congress and got resolutions for the 1990-91 Gulf War, the post 9-11 attack of Afghanistan PLUS the 2003 Iraq War that had huge support from Democrats.
Furthermore, I support any president taking action to defend US interests.
For example, I supported Pres Clinton when he bombed Iraq several times to enforce Saddam's constant violations of the cease-fire signed in 1991.
Unfortunately, Pres BO has not gone to Congress for a resolution.
He did go to the UN and that's an insult to everyone serving in the military. Our soldiers are pledge to defend the US Constitution not some resolutions passed at the UN!
Yesterday, Pres BO said that Libya is not a war. In other words, why go to Congress if we are not in a war?
I like Ed-Morrissey: The War Powers Act doesn’t apply to Libya because we’re not engaged in “hostilities”
I like Rick Moran: When Is a War Not a War? When President Obama Says So
My guess is that most liberals are furious with Pres BO for violating their cherished WPA.
Wonder what they would be saying if Pres Bush had adopted this posture when he invaded Iraq or contemplated an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities?
We live in a country of laws.
Pres BO has shown very little regard for the law.
He will not enforce immigration laws and defend the responsible employers who compete with dishonest businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
He grants waivers to "selected" companies who can't handle BO-Care.
And, last but not least, he has now started a war in Libya without going to Congress.
Where are the liberals? Again, I think that they are angry with Pres BO but can't get the courage to go to the microphone and say what they really feel!
