We learned some amazing things today. We can agree with this headline: A 'Catastrophic Disaster'...
First, we learned today that ATF officials were totally against selling weapons to Mexican Cartels.
Second, they were told by their supervisors to "....to "stand down" and ignore weapons bought in Arizona headed for Mexico." (FOX)
Here is one ATF agent: "My supervisors directed me and my colleagues not to make any stop or arrest, but rather, to keep the straw purchaser under surveillance while allowing the guns to walk."
Simple question: How can a supervisor at an ATF Arizona office order a program of this magnitude without getting approval from his superiors in Washington DC? Did the Secretary of State or Defense know that we were sending guns across an international border?
So here is the box score on this rather bizarre story:
Pres BO & AG Holder say that they did not know anything about their administration sending weapons to cartels in Mexico.
Are you kidding me? Isn't this the same Pres BO who recently came to Texas and told us that the border has never been safer?
We will learn a lot more over the next few days. However, this is a starting to look like total incompetence or an effort to cover up the truth.
