I get it. Why don't so many conservatives get it?
I believe in states' rights. Why are so many conservatives confused about a state deciding to pass its own solution to deal with its own crisis?
Let's review the story of the so called Romney-Care.
In 2002, Romney was elected governor of Massachusetts. He found himself governing with a very Dem legislature and a health care crisis.
Romney governed. He sat down with the legislature and they came up with a Massachusetts solution for a Massachusetts problem.
Again, what is wrong with that?
You and I can disagree about Romney-Care. At the same time, we can agree that the people of Massachusetts have the right to pass such a bill.
BO-Care is totally different.
First, BO-Care was passed without hearings, public discussions and by a partisan vote in the Congress. In fact, it was passed by only 4 votes despite a 40-plus Dem majority.
Second, BO-Care is a 2500 page monstrosity that no one has read. It is full of vague language that will give the federal government powers that are not in the US Constitution.
Third, BO-Care has issued about 1,300 waivers to companies and labor unions. Why are certainly people exempted from BO-Care?
Fourth, BO-Care passed the US Senate with corrupt arrangements, such as The Nebraska deal and others.
Again, this is about states solving their problems versus a federal government expanding its powers.
I think that Romney was being honest when he spoke last week. He "experimented" in Massachusetts and believed that he was doing the right thing for the state.
I'd rather have states experimenting with health care solutions than have a federal government taking over our insurance industry.
Romney may not please every conservative. Again, I'm OK with it because I believe that states should have the right to experiment.
