Immigration reform: It's election time and Pres BO is in total "coqueteo" mode

It must be election time!  Pres BO is talking "immigration reform" again in El Paso, TX.

Here is the political  reality:  Pres BO needs every "mexicano" vote or he won't be reelected!

It's a bad day when The NY Times, a.k.a. The Obama News, prints this:

"Now, facing a re-election campaign next year, the White House is embarking on a public relations effort to reassure Latino supporters who say they are frustrated by the president’s failure to deliver on his immigration promise."

As always, Pres BO will give a speech but not send Congress a specific proposal for discussion.

HEADLINE FROM EL PASO:  It's more "hope and change" rather than governing specifics.  What else do you expect from "hope and change"?

What's wrong with Pres BO's sudden inspiration to travel to Texas and "pander" about the need for reform?

First, no one wants to hear about immigration reform when cartels are trespassing on personal property from Brownsville to San Diego.  In other words, it's hard to get serious about "reform" when the US-Mexico border is a war zone for the law abiding citizens who live there.

In fact, Pres BO's speech will be delivered just over Cd Juarez, the crime capital of Mexico.

Second, you can not fix the problem unless Pres BO is willing to propose "work visas" for the millions here working.  We need to legalize them by allowing millions to work legally in the US.

Who opposes "work visas"?  Who killed the "brasero" program?  Who closed the border to Mexican trucks?

Can you say DEMOCRATS?

Third, Pres BO will cynically call on the GOP to join him on reform.  However, he faces robust opposition from Dems, specially the ones who get huge support from labor unions.  (This is the chief reason that Pres BO could not get a Dem majority to take immigration reform seriously in 2009-10.)

Here is the bottom line about this speech: Pres BO is not serious about fixing the border or illegal immigration problem.

Instead, he is just looking to energize the very disenchanted "mexicano" base that bought into "hope and change" in 2008.

Alfonso Aguilar, executive director of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, is right:

"The president's approval ratings among Hispanics has plummeted since he took office, Aguilar said, because of unfulfilled campaign promises, including a lack of job creation and an unemployment rate that is higher than the national average."

What is Pres BO doing in El Paso today?

This is a cynical ploy to get "mexicanos" to forget the promises of 2008 and buy into a whole new list of "promesas"!

Some "mexicanos" will give Pres BO a second chance.  However, I think that a lot of them will be very skeptical about the guy who told them what they wanted to hear in 2008.
