Put me down as someone who likes our GOP field.
I like our field a lot.
I like the fact that our field is likely to get bigger, and maybe even better.
Why do so many people say that this is a weak field? I don't know but I suspect that this nonsense is being peddled by a combination of these factors:
1) Some people want an ideological candidate in 2012, i.e. the pure conservative.
What's wrong with that? There isn't a pure conservative out there that will ever satisfy that demand.
In other words, our task is to nominate a conservative who can win a general election.
Romney, Huckabee, Gingrich, Daniels, Jeb Bush, et al fill that requirement.
2) The media: Be careful with the media coming to Pres BO's rescue. The media needs to make us feel bad about our nominees.
3) The Dems are scared to death about '12.
The Dems are already calculating that we will retain the House and take the Senate. Therefore, the Dems are scared to lose the presidency too.
Cheer up. We will feel a lot better once the primaries & debates start.
