Nobody wanted a government shutdown.
They are divisive and hurt a lot of innocent people who are thrown off the train because Pres BO the Dem majority did not pass a budget last September.
For the record, our federal government operates on a October 1st to September 30th fiscal year.
We expect the federal government to pass a budget so that we don't have these arguments in April.
Unfortunately, Pres BO & the Dem majority did not want to vote (i.e. take a position) on the appropriations required to run our federal government. They did not want to cast votes on "abortion", "homosexuals in the military", "The Dream Act", "immigration reform" or others before the election.
Again, why are we here?
We are here because Pres BO & the Dems could not govern, i.e. pass a budget!
Last night, both sides got something and "kicked the the can" for another week.
Eventually, Pres BO will have to stop the "hope and change" speeches about tourists coming to The Washington Monument and start leading or governing.

Here is the bottom line: Pres Washington would not have gone silent or disappeared for six months like our Pres BO.
We will back next week with another threat of a "shutdown".
We will be in that situation until we have a president who understands that executives make decisions and lead. In the meantime, the Obama administration is a daily episode of "The Twilight Zone":
