Like some of you, I've followed many of the US military operations of the last few years.
I can also remember presidents addressing the nation from The Oval Office and explaining their decisions.
So why haven't we heard from Pres BO? What is he waiting for? Isn't he back in town?
My guess is that Pres BO is silent because he doesn't know what to say. In other words, this is the weirdest military operation since Pres Clinton invaded Haiti in '94!
I agree with Peggy Noonan's column in Friday's WSJ:
"I cannot for the life of me see how an American president can launch a serious military action without a full and formal national address in which he explains to the American people why he is doing what he is doing, why it is right, and why it is very much in the national interest.
He referred to his aims in parts of speeches and appearances when he was in South America, but now he's home.
More is needed, more is warranted, and more is deserved."
Yes, we deserve more than this frightening silence and incoherent statements about our mission.
Why is Pres BO so quiet?
Could it be that The White House is afraid of putting Pres BO on TV? How did all of those BO-Care speeches workout? Or what about The State of the Union? Or those press conferences?
Take a look at this Reuters/IPSOS poll:
"Only 17 percent of Americans see President Barack Obama as a strong and decisive military leader...."
That's not good, specially if you are an incumbent seeking reelection as president of the US.
According to POLITICO, Pres BO does not want to elevate Libya to Iraq or Afghanistan. In other words, he wants to downplay the mission!
Pres BO's Libya problem is that he has not spelled out a clear mission.
In the meantime, we will continue to shoot missiles and bomb Tripoli.
We ask again:
What exactly are we doing in Libya?
What is the reason for spending billions in Libya at a time when we just ran a US$ 200 billion deficit in February?
We deserve a presidential explanation but we won't get one!
