Our "oops" foreign policy!

As I posted before, we've avoided taking "cheap shots" at Pres BO over Egypt.

In other words, we want Pres BO and the US to win in this crisis.

I did not vote for Pres BO but I want him to look strong and defend US interests in the region.

We need stability in Egypt because of Israel and the flow of oil.

We also need to convince all of those regimes in the region that the US will not "cut and run" and throw them under the bus!

Unfortunately, we are not winning and Pres BO is looking rather bad.

Yesterday, we witnessed a rather bizarre day.

First, CIA Director Panetta goes to Congress and confirms the "media reports" that Pres Mubarak is leaving.

Second, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper makes a rather silly remark about the Muslim Brotherhood.

I guess that The Muslim Brotherhood is an Egyptian version of the YMCA!

Third, we hear that Saudi Arabia called Pres BO and told him to stop pushing Pres Mubarak around.

Fourth, Pres BO gives a speech about "watching history" in Egypt, i.e. a reference to Pres Mubarak stepping down.

Fifth, Pres Mubarak spoils the party and does not step down.

How did our government get so "thumped" by events in Egypt?  Will the Obama White House get its act together?

Of course, let's not forget all of the conflicting statements from VP Biden, Sec Clinton and the envoy to Egypt who said that Pres Mubarak should stay to ensure stability.

Could this mess have been avoided?

Yes......

Pres BO made a huge mistake by assuming that he could give a "speech" and drive Pres Mubarak into retirement.

Sadly, this is the worst of all outcomes for the US.

Pres Mubarak is staying and the military is behind him......and the "street" in Cairo is disappointed with Pres BO & the US.....and the Obama administration has failed to stand with another ally.

Moral of the story: It was a lot easier being a community organizer.....wasn't it?
