The Dems should read Charlie Cook!

No one will accuse Charlie Cook of being a right winger or member of that "right wing conspiracy" that Hillary Clinton made famous years ago.

Charlie Cook is a good political observer and the kind that both sides read for straight talk.

Check out Charlie's latest:  First, Admit You Have a Problem

"Many Democrats seem to take solace in the idea that stubbornly high unemployment and the terrible economy are to blame for their midterm election losses.

They are unwilling to acknowledge that there were some more fundamental factors at work, ones that may be too unpleasant for them to face."

The Dems misunderstood their gains in 2006 and 2008.

In 2006, the won Congress by running moderate Dems in conservative districts.  Most of these Dem candidates were opposed to deficits, amnesty and government expansion.

In 2008, they won everything by hiding their liberalism.  Even candidate BO moved to the center, i.e. you didn't hear him calling for unilateral meetings with rogue leaders!

In 2009, the Dems governed by moving to the left, a clear misunderstanding of the electorate.

Health care?  Yes, the public was looking for some common sense reforms but they weren't looking for a government takeover.

Global warming?  Yes, we all want to protect the mythical bear swimming for his life in the Artic Sea but not at the expense of our jobs.

Furthermore, what's the point of passing "job killing" climate legislation if China and India don't go along with us anyway?

GITMO? Yes, most people are uncomfortable with holding on to terrorists indefinitely in some base overseas.  However, they are even more uncomfortable with moving them to the US or releasing them back to the battlefield.

Over and over, the Dems tried to please their leftist base and governed like a party out of touch with the US voters.

In other words, the Dems need to get back to the center and become a pro-growth party rather than another "European welfare state" party.

Read Cook!  That's my advice to the Dems!
