The Washington Post, the country's serious liberal newspaper, has a great editorial: A good year in Iraq
It looks like things are working out well in Iraq after all!
Who wants to argue that Iraq, or the Middle East, would have been better off with Saddam in power?
Who wants to make that case?
Of course, it cost 4400 US deaths to topple Saddam. However, it would have cost a lot more if we had done nothing.
Iraq was never a choice between war and peace. It was always between "war now or war later", specially after Saddam kicked out the UN inspectors in 1998!
We've come a long way......and Pres Bush's policies look a lot better now that his successor is actually carrying them out!
