Remember when Afghanistan was the Dems' favorite war?

During the campaign, and Pres Bush's second term, the Dems used to tell us that Afghanistan was "the good war" and Iraq was "the wrong war".

What a difference reality and governing can make!

Bob Woodward's new book presents a rather disturbing picture. We see a man who seems more interested in domestic polls than national security.

The Washington Post has a great editorial: Bob Woodward's book portrays a great divide over Afghanistan

"For the sake of the Americans fighting in Afghanistan, and the families of the 360 service members who have died there this year, we hope that is not the case."

Charles Krauthammer hits him even harder:

"First, isn’t this the party that in two consecutive presidential campaigns — John Kerry’s and then Obama’s — argued vociferously that Afghanistan was the good war, the right war, the war of necessity, the central front in the War on Terror?

Now, after acceding to power and being given charge of that very war, Obama confides that he must retreat lest that very same party abandon him.

What happened in the interim?

Did it suddenly develop a faint heart?

Or was the party disingenuous about the Afghan war all along, using it as a convenient club with which to attack George W. Bush over Iraq, while protecting Democrats from the charge of being reflexively antiwar?"

We repeat: The Dems are one big farce, a political party good at politics but not governing.

We call on Pres BO to come clean and deal with some Afghanistan realities:

1) Fight to win or get out. We don't need another Vietnam where thousands of US troops were sent to fight without a clear cut commitment to victory.

Listen to the generals or veto the mission and come home.

2) Tell the Europeans what they don't want to hear. The NATO countries need to hear that the US public expects them to carry their share of this war.

3) Talk about the strategic importance of cleaning up Afghanistan.

4) Last, but not least, explain why the war is being expanded to Pakistan without a congressional resolution.

We have a man who loves to talk but does not like to govern. In other words, we have a president who loves the title but not the responsibility that comes with it.

Get in or get out of Afghanistan! Our soldiers are entitled to a clear message!

I MISS PRES. BUSH!
