Walks will kill you but Manager Ron Washington was a bit "trigger happy" with his pitchers on Saturday.
First, I think that he pulled Coby Lewis quickly. Why take out a guy leading 1-0 because he walks the first batter in the 6th inning? Lewis had a decent pitch count.
Second, Derek Holland was a lot better than his pitching line would suggest. What kind of strike zone did the ump have?
By the way, I think that the commissioner needs to sit down with the umps in the off season and demand a more consistent strike zone.
In other words, we need umps calling more strikes rather than forcing pitchers to throw perfect strikes!
Third, why push Darren Oliver after getting 7 outs in game two?
Fourth, and finally, why didn't he let Darren O'Day finish the 8th inning? Why bring Neftali Feliz for a 4-out save?
None of this will matter if the Rangers clinch today.....but Ron Washington is a bit scary at times!
