According to some news reports, Fidel Castro told a foreign journalist that the Cuban model does not work for anymore.
We learned later that Castro corrected the news reports.....he meant to say that capitalism does not work for Cuba.
What's wrong with that? Capitalism has not existed in Cuba for 50 years.
In fact, it was the Castro regime that destroyed capitalism and free enterprise in the 1960's.
It was all done in the name of socialism!
Today, we got further confirmation that the Cuban model does not work anymore:
"Communist Cuba will shift hundreds of thousands of state employees to the private sector in 2011 as the government prunes more than 500,000 workers from its payroll.
The official trade union federation said on Monday that eventually more than a million jobs would be cut." (FT.com)
Here is the other part of the story:
"According to Communist party sources who have seen the detailed plan to "reorganize the labor force," Cuba expects to issue 250,000 new licenses for self-employment by the close of 2011, almost twice the current number, and create 200,000 other non-state jobs." (Reuters)
Check this quote from Raul Castro:
""We have to erase forever the notion that Cuba is the only country in the world in which people can live without working....."
We trust that the Latin American left, and all of those clowns who cheered what the Castro brothers had accomplished in Cuba, will take note of Raul Castro's comments.
Let me translate what Raul just said: Socialism does not work. We need capitalism to save our failed revolution. We need "dolares" and the sooner the better!
Who is going to tell all of those young Cubans that the whole thing was a farce? Who will explain to them that the "socialist man" must be bailed out by the terrible "capitalista"?
