We can't grant citizenship to everyone....

Today, we read this:

"In Texas, between 60,000 to 65,000 babies achieve U.S. citizenship annually by being born in the state's hospitals, according to a tally released by the state's Health and Human Services Commission.

Last year, such births represented almost 16 percent of the total births statewide.

Between 2001 and 2009, births to illegal immigrant women totaled 542,152 in Texas alone."

Sorry but this whole thing does not make sense and getting rather expensive.

We don't need to rewrite the 14th amendment.

We just need to remember that the 14th amendment was never written to give citizenship to people born to a woman who came into the country illegally.

John Hinderaker makes a lot of sense today:

"One hundred fifty years ago, it may have made sense to declare that any child born in America is an American citizen.

But in today's mobile society, such a rule is not only silly but dangerous.

To his credit, Lindsay Graham has called for a revisiting of "birthright citizenship."

John Cornyn and other prominent Republicans have joined Graham.

Such a review of birthright citizenship is long overdue, in part because the number of "anchor babies" born to illegal immigrants is astonishing."

The US can not give citizenship to everyone who wants to come without papers or legal entry.

Again, this is crazy and devalues US citizenship.

Don't call me "racista" or "anti-imigrante" for saying that US citizenship should be for those who respect US laws and play by the rules.
