Pres. Calderon said this:
"President Felipe Calderon warned on Tuesday that bloodshed in his war against drug cartels would likely intensify even as Mexicans grapple with already alarming levels of violence."
I'm glad to hear it!
Haven't we been screaming something like this for a couple of years?
Did you hear about the "Afghanistan-type shootout" in Cd Juarez last Saturday night?
There is a war, yes a war, south of the border.
Frankly, we have some responsibility here.
We consume the stuff that the cartels send up here.
What's the follow up?
What should Pres Calderon do next to defend Mexico from people who hang bodies from bridges?
First, and foremost, call on the US to seal the borders.
Last, but not least, we repeat our call for a tougher US posture toward the US border.
Mexico can not do this by itself.
Mexico needs US Army divisions to seal the border and confront the cartels using those Arizona routes.
Mexico can not defeat the cartels with our casual attitude toward the border.
