Dear Pres BO: We need a speech about Afghanistan!

We don't usually agree with The NY Times editorial page.

However, they made some good points in their editorial about Afghanistan:

"Americans need regular, straight talk from President Obama about what is happening in Afghanistan, for good and ill, and the plan going forward.

More ambiguity will only add to the anxiety and confusion." (NYTimes)

The editorial goes into a lot of other details. However, I agree with the need for a little "straight talk" about a very hard war.

To be fair, we knew that Afghanistan was going to be very tough.

Also, I supported Pres BO's decision to send the troops and drive the terrorists out of the country.

I still support that decision today.

Nevertheless, I am very concerned that Pres BO has been too quiet on the subject.

We call on Pres BO to give a major speech outlining "why" we need to fight there.

We need a better sense of where we are and where we are going.

We need a formal cancellation of that silly "July 2011" deadline. You can not be commander-in-chief and play politics.

Last, but not least, I want to hear that Pres BO is committed to victory.

And I want Pres BO to tell the Europeans that they also have a responsibility to send troops and fight in this war.

Let's hope that we hear from Pres BO soon or he will continue to lose support!
