Please sit back and hear this: The Rangers got Cliff Lee
This is a great trade for two reasons:
1) Lee is the best lefthander available in this trading deadline; and,
2) Texas did not give up one of the young starters in the rotation.
What about Justin Smoak? He is a very good young player and may be as good as Texeira. However, the Rangers could afford to move him because Chris Davis should be ready to play up here.
What about Blake Bevan? He is a very good young pitcher and may develop into a major league starter. However, Texas has a deep farm system and there are lots of young arms waiting to move up.
Cliff Lee helps the Rangers a lot. It will be fun to watch him down the stretch.
