Today's Twilight Zone moment: The summer of recovery?

As my wife will tell you, I try to watch The Twilight Zone every night at 10pm. However, I'm getting my hourly version watching the Obama administration govern or misgovern the country.

Even The Washington Post, a paper that endorsed Pres BO, is having its own problems buying "the summer of recovery": White House searching for a way to reconnect with voters over economy!

What's the problem with having "hope and change" do a round of speeches praising 'summer of recovery"?

The answer is that there is no recovery!

Check this headline: Retail sales drop 0.5 percent in June

Check another: Job openings drop in May as hiring stays weak

Remember how they used to beat up Pres Bush over deficits? (Federal budget gap tops $1 trillion through June)

What makes this White House think that they can send Pres BO out and persuade millions?

He has not so far, according to John Dickerson:

"Candidate Obama used to joke about rays of sunshine coming in when he started to speak.

Now he brings the clouds.

He's spent a great deal of time talking about the Recovery Act and health care reform, but the political fortunes of those programs are dismal, which suggests his ability to persuade and change minds is seriously damaged."

It's too bad that Rod Sterling is not around anymore. My guess is that he'd be using this administration as material for his shows!
