Why can't a Dem president with Dem majorities in the House and Senate get a debate over an immigration bill?
or a vote?
The answer is Dems!
You can divide BO's Dem problem into two groups:
1) Dems running for reelection; and,
2) Dems in bed with labor unions who oppose any kind of a guest worker program.
Michael Barone reminds us of how then Sen Obama worked to kill the 2007 effort to pass the McCain-Kennedy bill:
".....Obama himself voted for at least one amendment labeled as a "poison pill" by Edward Kennedy and other leaders of the bipartisan effort in 2007.
Kennedy knew that you had to disappoint some liberal groups to hold a bipartisan coalition together.
Obama, then running for president, didn't go along."

As we have posted before, Pres BO & Dems are playing very cynical politics by shifting the conversation and putting the blame on Republicans.
They are banking on a repeat of the "si se puede" enthusiasm of 2008 to offset Pres BO's declining approvals.
They will learn in November that this is 2010 not 2008!
