Confessions of a guy who can't get into soccer & some thoughts about the sale of the Rangers!

Before I get flooded with nasty e-mails from people who "eat and sleep" soccer, let me say this:

1) I admire the athletes;

2) I enjoy the fans' passion: and

3) I don't hate soccer!

Again, I can't get into this game. How can all of these people get so excited about a game that ends up 0-0? Who wins a 0-0 game?

I grew up playing baseball & football, or what they call American football. Recently, I've also become a big fan of NHL hockey!

My brother and I don't have those invaluable memories of going to a soccer game with our father or hanging pictures of Pele in our bedroom.

Instead, we recall going to Sunday afternoon baseball games with our dad, calculating batting averages & hanging pictures of Pete Rose, Al Kaline and Camilo Pascual on our wall.

So enjoy the Spain vs Netherlands game.

Above all, I pray that the final game is not decided by penalty kicks. No one has logically explained to me how a championship game can be decided by something as silly as penalty kicks!

You play a game, overtime and then a game is decided by penalty kicks!

Again, I can't get into this game called soccer!

On the home front, the Rangers made a great deal for Cliff Lee. (
Very happy that Cliff Lee is a Ranger!)

On the financial front, the sale of the Rangers has turned into a nightmare because of the mess that owner Tom Hicks created.

My question: How did Commissioner Selig and MLB allow Mr Hicks to drag down the Rangers?

P.S. On Friday, Barry Bellville and I discussed the World Cup and the sale of the Rangers. We recorded this show a few hours before the Lee trade so that's why it was not mentioned:
