Why did the Nationals keep this guy in the minors until last night?
Steve Strasburg was sensational:
"The 14 strikeouts by Strasburg in a Major League debut were one shy of the all-time mark of 15 set by Karl Spooner in 1954 and J.R. Richard in '71." (MLB)
How can anyone hit that curve ball?
To be fair, he pitched against the Pirates, a weak hitting team.
However, I am not sure that better teams will hit that curve ball or 100 mph fastball.
Congratulations to Steve Strasburg and I hope that the Nats come to Texas soon so that we can get to see him.
P.S. It looked to me that Ivan Rodriguez was having a great time behind the plate. Wonder how many catching mitts did he wear out "processing" those fastballs?
