It's been a very rough year for Pres BO.
Last night, the speech got this treatment from his allies at MSNBC:
MSNBC Trashes Obama's Address: Compared To Carter, 'I Don't Sense Executive Command'...
What happens when BO loses MSNBC?
Frankly, no one senses executive leadership and that's problem number one!
It's been brutal for BO in Louisiana too:
"50% of voters in the state, even including 31% of Democrats, give Bush higher marks on that question compared to 35% who pick Obama." (PPP)
Ir's brutal when he loses Maureen Dowd:
"How can a man who was a dazzling enough politician to become the first black president at age 47 suddenly become so obdurately self-destructive about politics?"
Everybody is asking the same thing: Who is in charge?
It's not Obama!
Again, no one is blaming Pres BO for the explosion.
Accidents happen in the real world. Planes crash. Bombs go off!
At the same time, shouldn't we expect our federal government to activate all resources to clean up the coast line?
How can we be in this position "50-something days" after the explosion?
Last night, Pres BO did what he does best:
1) He repeated the "I inherited a mess" speech......in other words, blame Bush!
He did forget to say he has been in office for nearly 17 months and appointed the key people running the relevant oversight organizations!
Speaking of the "cozy" relationship between the oil companies and government, "hope and change" was BP's favorite candidate!
BP contributed $ 1.6 million to BO's campaign. (Obama biggest recipient of BP cash)
Can BO stop "the holier than thou" stuff? He is not speaking to 18-year olds jumping up and down anymore!
2) He reminded us again that "we face unprecedented problems"......really?
How dare history be so unkind to Obama?
What did this guy think that the presidency was all about?
Did he think that it was "hope and change" speeches and mindless young people jumping up and down at the sight of "the messiah"?
Has he ever read a presidential memoir or biography?
Perhaps he should read about Pres Washington starting a government and implementing a Constitution.
Or what about Pres Lincoln holding a nation together?
Or Pres Roosevelt walking into the Oval Office with 25% unemployment?
Or Pres Truman ending the war in the Pacific?
Or Pres Bush on the morning after 9-11?
Stop the whining and start acting like an executive!
I don't want to hear about the mess that you inherited.
I want to hear about your solutions and not the whining!
3) He showed again that he always speaks in generalities and provides few if any specifics.
Roger Simon is not buying it: Obama promises a brighter day. (Details to come.)
The NY Times, the most pro-BO newspaper on earth, is a bit skeptical too:
"Mr. Obama and his team will have to follow through — with more energy and dedication than they have shown so far. "
Lynn Sweet from Chicago has a good question:
Obama makes nice Oval Office speech, but is the BP well capped?
Joan Walsh, another one of those liberals who looked the other way when we told them that BO had no executive experience, is a bit worried too:
Just words: Obama's Oval Office speech fizzles
4) He will propose a "job killing" tax increase to "plug the hole".In this case, we are talking about "cap and trade", a proposal so controversial that the Dem majority is not up to pass it!!
5) He is wrong about drilling deep in the gulf.
We drill deep in the gulf because the wacko environmentalists have tied up efforts to drill for oil in the mainland or to build nuclear plants.
Why are we drilling deep in the gulf?
The answer is Obama and the left wing corners that he grew up in!
Question: How will the public react to this speech?
Put me down as one of those who doesn't think that the public will be impressed!
BO looks lost! He looks weak!
P.S. Don't blame me! I voted for McCain:
