When did "5 de Mayo" turn into a day for flag fights?

Do you remember when "5 de Mayo" was a fun day to celebrate Mexican heritage?

Do you recall when it was a day to eat Mexican food?

Or watch those young girls with their beautiful dresses performing a Mexican folk dance at the park?

Or, a day to recall the bravery of Mexican-American military veterans? (Thank you veterans!)

Or, a day to appreciate all of those wonderful contributions that Mexicans have made to our region?

When did "5 de Mayo" turn into another opportunity for angry lefties to push all of their crazy ideas?

Or a day for flag fights?

Or a moment when the US flag was considered an insult to young Mexican Americans observing their heritage?

How did this happen?

We want the old "5 de Mayo"!
